There is only one selective state school in Cumbria that requires children to sit an 11+ exam, Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Penrith. Pupils are selected on the basis of their aptitude for the academic nature of the education offered at the school. Parents/guardians should register for the entrance test with the school. The Local Authority online preference form (SA3) must also be completed.

Subjects Tested: The FSCE entrance test assesses application of knowledge and skills from KS2 subjects taught up to and including the Year 5 programme of study. Subjects tested may include any of the following: Art & Design, Computing, Design & Technology, English, Geography, History, Languages, Maths, Music, Physical Education and Science. The subjects, content and format may change from year to year.
